The Cayucos season culminates on April 9 with the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) regatta, 'Ocean to Ocean', whose dates of celebration involve April 7, 8 and 9, 2017.
The AMP race is a legendary race that takes place in the waters of the 50-mile Panama Canal and runs from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific and promises fierce competition.
The event began as a way to preserve the tradition that began in 1954 to encourage local youth and adults to row in Cayucos, built by the Panamanian natives, along the waters of the Panama Canal. It promotes the appreciation of those native riches typical of the Republic of Panama highlighting especially those things as the indigenous traditions, the local flora and fauna, as well as the Panama Canal.
