The ocean can be a lot of fun and it also demands respect. During certain times it can be very dangerous. Often when at the beach you may see a a red, yellow or green flag in the sand.

The color-coded beach flags are put in place to keep the public aware of ocean conditions.

The warning flags and colors mean different things:

Green - Low hazard, calm conditions, exercise caution

Yellow: - Medium hazard, moderate surf and/or currents

Red - High hazard, high surf and/or strong currents

Red over Red - two red flags - Water closed to the public

Keep in mind that No Beach Flag does not assure safe waters.

Have fun, stay aware and enjoy the gorgeous beaches of Panama!
