Day 316 of 365 Things To Do in Panama. Attend the Mi Ranchito Festival!

The Festival Mi Ranchito in Río de Jesús Santiago de Veraguas will take place November 17th to 19th. It is part of the celebration of this region showing unity for the separation of Panama from Colombia in 1903. The festival was created as a way to preserve and showcase the folklore, traditions and culture of the region for future generations.

The festival is named because of its elaborate use of ranchitos which are made of pencas, straw nata, cane and different types of wood and used to present the different handicrafts. agricultural products and typical foods of the region.

Come meet the queen of the town, see folkloric groups from different parts of the province, as well as, a parade of carts representing the customs of each district.
