Panama has the distinction as the "Hub of the Americas" due to the significant role in international logistics, trade and travel. The Panama Canal, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, is one of the largest and longest man made structures in the world. Connecting the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean it is a logistics hub and key conduit for international maritime trade with almost 14,000 vessels transiting the canal each year.
Tocumen International Airport, currently being updated and expanded has over 100 flights on around a half-dozen carriers that fly in and out facilitating the processing of more than 25,000 passengers daily. There are more connections between North, Central, and South America in Panama than anywhere else on earth.
