Day 240 of 365 Things To Do in Panama. View Post Panamax Ships at Agua Clara Locks Visitor Center!

Located on the Atlantic side, near Colon City, the Agua Clara Visitor Center is a place to view the larger Post Panamax ships. They are approximately one and half times the previous ships and can carry over twice as much cargo.

With breathtaking panoramic views, this impressive viewpoint is a perfect spot for those who want to enjoy an experience enriched with interesting facts and history that unites the world. On one side is Gatun Lake, where cargo ships or other vessels transit every day, and on the other is an amazing view of the expansion canal. In the projection room you can learn about the history of the canal and the plans for the future. Walking through the ecological path you can enjoy the variety of plant species of the Canal watershed.
Take time out for lunch at the coffee shop for a fast and tasty treat or dine in the restaurant.
Before you leave pick up a special token from the gift shop.
The visitor center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Did you know... the 192 thousand tons of steel required for the construction of Third Set of Locks could be used to build 19 Eiffel Towers.
