Day 326 of 365 Things To Do in Panama

Day 326 of 365 Things To Do in Panama. Hike Los Quetzales Trail!

Photo: TripAdvisor

The Quetzal Trail is located in Volcán Barú National Park, Panama. It is well maintained and depending on your fitness level can be trekked from Boquete to Cerro Punta which provides an uphill workout, or from Cerro Punta to Boquete which is mostly downhill all the way.

The hike can be accomplished in about 5-6 hours. Cruising through the tropical forest you will see a gorgeous array of fauna and flora and if fortunate you may catch a glimpse of the trail's namesake, the resplendent quetzal! Remember to take into account the changing elevation so the temperatures can be cooler and rainy. It is usually best to go with a guide.
