Rosa Iveth Montezuma Montero is the first woman of indigenous roots to represent Panama in the Miss Universe pageant. She is a native of the Alto Caballero community in Ngäbe Buglé, the largest and most populous of Panama's three comarcas indígenas. There are seven indigenous groups that account for 12 percent of the total population.
Rosa is the first beauty queen to visit different commissions of the United Nations Organization for social purposes. She raised her voice to address topics related to indigenous issues and women's empowerment.
Miss Universe 2018 will be held on December 17, 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. It will be the 67th edition of the Miss Universe pageant.
